Price - Round 3 :)

When Meagen worked for Price Elementary School in 2009 she asked if I could help with their yearbook cover.  I was "summering in Ohio" (laid-off and looking..) and welcomed any chance at creativity.  It was a bit of a challenge, sketching and drawing everything, in grayscale, without a scanner or wacom tablet or any other design luxury.

Then again the next year I tried to help - this time with color!!!  Oooooooh :)  Well, she doesn't work there anymore but I am thankful for the opportunity to get to work on it again - my skillz (I'm not cool enough to pull that off... skills.) got some more practice with digital sketching.  AND, I'm learning more and more how to draw panthers - youth panthers, to be exact.

New Mini-Projects

It's been a while, huh?  Guess that's how this is just going to go.  One of the perks of having a twin sister who is also a teacher is that you get fun little projects like this one - labels for her books (she has a ton!).   Coming up, another yearbook cover and stuff for the literacy event she's planning.

Meagen's Last Bozarth Bash! :)

Now that we've finally had Meagen's Bachelorette Party + Bridal Shower I can share the details of both!  Starting today with the invitations for the bach. party, which were sent out about a month and a half ago, we kept with a Memorial Day theme, if that.  Meagen is not like most brides - she doesn't drink very much, she's not the crazy bar-crawl type, she would have kicked me out of the bridal party if I even drove her by a strip club, and she is F-U-N.  She is light-hearted and laid-back, and her bachelorette party needed to be the same :)

Price Elementary - Printed!

About a year ago I worked on a yearbook cover for a school my sister was working at - Price Elementary, in Ohio.  Fortunately (for her), I wasn't working and had time to do a last-minute quick graphic.  They don't have a mascot (that I know of) and it needed to be in black and white.  I asked when she needed it - "today?"  No scanner = my first attempt at computer-only sketching.

This year, I had a little bit more time, and the opportunity to use color.  Again, it was relatively quick, and again, no hand sketches scanned... completely digital.  And a 2010 Olympic theme, of course :)

I love when people take my seriously and actually make / print / build something I've designed.  Meagen just sent me this photo - ta daaaaa :)

Camp Cecil

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted anything :(  Believe me - I would love to spend my days sketching things that I can show-off, but thats not what pays the bills!  I'm working on it.  I promise :)

Meanwhile, I pulled together this invite for Emily's nephew's first birthday party - they are doing a camping theme, and from the sounds of it they are going all-out.  It sounds like it's going to be super cute!  She had some ideas already for the invitation, fortunately, so I was able to get this out the door with only a couple hours of time... all I seem to be able to afford these days.  Fun project for my free time, especially because he's such a cute little boy!!

Ta daaaaaaaa - Wedding Invites!

Now that Meagen has mailed her wedding invitations I can post the final result - didn't want to jump the gun!  See below some pictures I just took of the invites - so relieved I was invited... - for Meagen's wedding this June!  The ink is actually navy blue (colors = navy + yellow), and much thanks to Amber at a.favorite design for the letterpressing!  She was a huge help in all things wedding invite!

Return address embosser?  Awesome idea.

Pocket enclosures from Envelopments

The whole sh'bang.

Makes it real, huh? :)

LOOOOVE the blind impression - turned out so well :)

Who doesn't love a map?  Had a minor heart attack when I mis-read it after they were printed and thought the directions turned you in the wrong direction...

Can't wait!

Bridal Shower Invites

Now that Meagen received it, I can post the final design for another project I've had going... invites to her bridal shower I'll be throwing with her other bridesmaids!  I'm not sure how clearly this will post - I'm having some technical difficulties with image hosting and quality (ugh.) but hopefully you get the picture...  These went out recently and have started landing in the 30 mailboxes they're heading towards.  I can't wait for the wedding, shower and bach. party!

Garden Signage

Well, one of the reasons it doesn't seem like I've been sketching much lately, is because I've been working on a pro bono project with my P+W partner in crime :)  Still in very early conceptual phases, and ever so slightly in-limbo right now, the project includes developing some signage and wayfinding for a garden at a local high school.  There's a huge, huge story that comes with pretty plants here, and we want to help the designers tell it.  See some sketches and imagery we sent them to help start showing our direction - I'll post developments as they come!
