75 Ways to Draw More - 8

8) Make lots of bad drawings (and learn not to care).
Well, I certainly make lots of bad drawings... sometimes I even post them.  But I'm still working on "learn not to care."  Practice makes perfect on all accounts, I guess!

In about two minutes we are going to plan out what activities to reserve for our trip to Costa Rica... which cannot come soon enough :)

7) Take a class.

Now this one we can discuss.  At this point I'm still working on the decision for WHICH class to take, but here are the options in the running:

1- Fundamentals of Digital Photography
this would mildly involve me getting a new dslr... which is going to take time to save-up for.  but I really, really want to learn more about photography soon.  that said, the class is kind of out of my price range for a hobby - I'm going to have to take it pretty seriously for that.

2- Designboom - Paper
this looks awesome, and is way more in my price range.  right now it's winning.

3- Designboom - Self Promo
another one from designboom, and therefore still within my price range.  in an economic climate like this one, learning a little bit more about effective ways to market yourself creatively couldn't hurt.

4- Screenprinting Basics @ Lillstreet
i reaaaaallly want to learn to screenprint.  however, i'm wondering if a) i have the space for that in my tiny apartment and b) that's something i could figure out with a couple online tutorials and a kit.  hmm.

6) Find some drawing friends and arrange to meet for a drawing session.

I'm not trying to make excuses, however... I'm way more of a 'draw on my own' (and exercise on my own, for that matter) kind of girl.  I work at my own pace and subconsciously get kind of competitive when other people are involved.  So, I'm going to give a gracious "no thank you" to #6 and move-on :)

5) Visit inspirational websites.
Yes please.  I need to update the links portion on the right side of this site, but that is definitely not area in which my daily routine is lacking.

Today is Friday - that means I'll post some kind of guest sketch / drawing / photo / rendering / etc later today, and it also means at work this afternoon we have Beer Time!  Its a lovely tradition / perk that starts the weekend just a little bit sooner than most places do :)

4) Read inspirational books.
One suggested = "Everday Matters, " by Danny Gregory.  I just found it online for $7.  Ordered and can't wait.

Continuing down the list :

3) Get them both out regularly.
Done. Problem is I get them out and rarely find time to do something with them.

Today, however, I've spent a couple minutes looking at my options for winter-wear appropriate for Chicago, instead of Charlotte.  I think I'm going to end up with the full-body snow-suit.  It gets COLD here!

75 Ways to Draw More

In case you haven't noticed, I haven't been drawing as much lately.  I can't imagine why - other than that fact that I've been working 65-70 hours every week - but it's got to pick back up.  For the sake of my sanity, I need some sketch-therapy.

So, I recently came across this project - 75 ways to draw more - which lists, as you'd guess, 75 things to do / draw / think about / buy that will force you to draw more.  I'm going to take 75 days to initiate these.  If you've seen Julie & Julia, consider this my version of "Mastering the Art of French Cooking."

1) Carry a small sketchbook everywhere.
Done.
